Who we are and what we do:
TennCare is Tennessee's managed care Medicaid program that provides health insurance coverage to certain groups of low-income individuals such as pregnant women, children, caretaker relatives of young children, older adults, and adults with physical disabilities. TennCare provides coverage for approximately 1.7 million Tennesseans and operates with an annual budget of approximately $19 billion. It is run by the Division of TennCare with oversight and some funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Job Overview:
TennCare compensation is equitable and will be based on education and experience for a qualified candidate in accordance with Department of Human Resources (DOHR) policy.
The Division of TennCare is dedicated to providing our employees with a hybrid work environment. All TennCare positions have a combination of work from home and work in the office, which varies by position, department, and business need. The Project Manager will report to the PMO Director and effectively use project management best practices and standards to successfully manage all assigned projects, throughout all phases of their intended lifecycle. The project manager will also be responsible for leading diverse teams of stakeholders and vendor partners through the successful implementation of PMO projects.
Key Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be required, but not limited, to perform the following functions:
Lead and manage projects across business and Information Systems (IS) areas, ensuring successful delivery from initiation through completion
Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing clear, consistent, and proactive communication
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, leadership, and external vendor partners
Facilitate meetings and discussions to align stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and drive timely decision-making
Translate business needs into actionable project plans in collaboration with technical teams and stakeholders
Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies as needed
Drive accountability across project teams to ensure timelines, deliverables, and project objectives are met
Communicate project status, risks, and key decisions to leadership in a clear and concise manner
Ensure adherence to PMO as well as Enterprise standards, methodologies, and best practices
In collaboration with vendor partners and other TennCare departments, develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with business and IS stakeholders, as well as identified TennCare Partners
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (healthcare, management, business, project management);
3+ years of experience in project management;
3+ years of experience using common project management software and tools;
PMP Certification highly desired.
OR
Desirable Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in project management, preferably in complex, cross-functional or technical environments
3+ years of experience using common project management software and tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office suite).
Experience working on Information Systems (IS) or IT-related projects, including collaboration with technical teams or vendors
Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders across multiple functional areas, including both technical and non-technical teams
Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics
Proven ability to resolve conflicts, influence decision-making, and build consensus among diverse stakeholders
Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
Experience working in healthcare or government environments
Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts
Experience with project portfolio management or PMO environments
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Familiarity with system implementations or large-scale IT initiatives
