The Medical Assistant/Patient Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting our healthcare team by providing both clinical and administrative assistance to ensure a smooth and positive experience for every patient. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and prepare patients for examinations, taking vital signs, documenting medical history, and updating patient records in the electronic health system.
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterile.
- Collect specimens (e.g., swabs) and conduct basic lab tests as directed by the provider.
- Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with billing or copay collection as needed.
- Manage incoming calls and messages, providing accurate information or routing inquiries to the appropriate team member.
- Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies to ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Support front office operations when needed, including check-in, check-out, and documentation processing.
- Deliver compassionate care and ensure patients feel valued, informed, and comfortable throughout their visit.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment, both independently and as part of a collaborative care team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for prolonged periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle instruments and perform clinical procedures.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
