Duties
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, primarily using Fanuc control systems, to produce high-precision parts.
- Program CNC machines utilizing CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software, ensuring optimal tool paths and machining parameters.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure parts meet design requirements.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and tolerances throughout the manufacturing process.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, including tool changes, tooling inspections, and troubleshooting electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to lean manufacturing principles to maximize efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly processes involving plastics injection molding, welding, or other fabrication tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes; familiarity with Fanuc controls is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming techniques using CAM software; ability to modify programs for process improvements.
- Skilled in reading blueprints and technical drawings with an understanding of GD&T standards.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills for precise measurements and calculations.
- Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling selection, and setup is a plus.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs for quality assurance.
- Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other manufacturing tools.
- Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is advantageous but not required.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
