Position: 3 and 5 hour positions available
Guilderland Elementary School and Pine Bush Elementary School are seeking a full-time dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support instruction and daily routines in an elementary classroom or self-contained elementary classroom. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a certified teacher to assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), supporting student learning, behavior, and personal care needs, and creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the lead teacher in planning and delivering instructional activities tailored to students' developmental and educational needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to reinforce learning, monitor progress, and ensure engagement.
- Assist in the implementation of IEPs, behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and accommodations or modifications as directed.
- Monitor student behavior and provide positive behavioral supports to maintain a respectful and orderly classroom environment.
- Support students with daily living skills, including toileting, feeding, dressing, and mobility, as needed.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials, classroom displays, and learning centers.
- Assist with the supervision of students during recess, lunch, transitions, and other non-classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate records related to student progress, behavior incidents, and daily notes as directed.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, therapists, and parents to promote student success.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements:
- TA Certification Experience working with children,preferably in an educational or special needs setting.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to support students with mobility or self-care tasks.
