Important before you apply: This is a hands-on bench avionics role in Fairfield, CA. It is not remote, not field-installation focused, and not an entry-level electronics position. Please apply only if you can perform component-level troubleshooting and repair on aircraft/avionics electronic equipment.
Why Join North Bay Aviation?
North Bay Aviation is a Veteran-Owned Company with more than 30 years of experience serving aviation customers worldwide. We are an FAA, EASA, and ASA9110C certified Part-145 repair center providing test, repair, and overhaul services for commercial, military, and regional aircraft platforms.
You will join a focused repair-station team where avionics expertise, accurate troubleshooting, technical documentation, and quality workmanship matter every day.
About the Role
We are hiring an Avionics Bench Technician to test, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul aircraft electronic components and systems. The right candidate has direct avionics repair experience and is comfortable diagnosing faults to the component level using schematics, maintenance manuals, and electronic test equipment.
You Should Apply If You Can Confidently Do This
· Diagnose, repair, and overhaul aircraft electronic components on the bench.
· Troubleshoot circuit boards and electronic components to the component level.
· Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, frequency generators, counters, and related avionics/electronics test equipment.
· Read and accurately apply maintenance manuals, schematics, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
· Identify and replace defective integrated circuits, resistors, transistors, capacitors, and related electronic components.
· Work on-site in Fairfield, CA and follow FAA repair-station quality, documentation, and safety expectations.
Minimum Requirements - Please Read Before Applying
· At least 4 years of hands-on avionics repair, troubleshooting, or aircraft electronics maintenance experience; OR completion of at least 2 years of formal electronic circuit theory coursework; OR a 4-year college degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
· Direct experience in an aircraft repair station, military aviation maintenance environment, or comparable avionics/electronics repair environment is strongly preferred.
· Strong electronics fundamentals and proven ability to troubleshoot beyond simple remove-and-replace work.
· Proficiency using electronic test equipment to diagnose boards, modules, and aircraft electronic components.
· Ability to interpret technical documents accurately and document work clearly.
· Ability to work full-time on-site in Fairfield, CA. Remote work is not available.
This Role Is Probably Not a Fit If
· You are looking for remote work or cannot reliably work on-site in Fairfield, CA.
· Your experience is primarily commercial or residential electrical work, construction wiring, electrician work, general IT, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, or low-voltage installation without avionics or aircraft electronics bench repair experience.
· You have only entry-level electronics training and do not yet have hands-on troubleshooting experience.
· You are looking mainly for aircraft installation, line maintenance, or A&P mechanic work rather than bench-level avionics repair.
· You are not comfortable reading schematics, manuals, service bulletins, and wiring diagrams as part of daily work.
Preferred Qualifications
· Aircraft system knowledge, especially aircraft instrumentation, autopilot, air data computers, and electrical power systems.
· Intermediate-level or specialized aircraft electronics repair experience.
· Familiarity with LabVIEW or automated test systems.
· Military aviation electronics/avionics background is welcome.
Compensation & Benefits
· We pay top salaries in our industry. Your compensation and earning potential will be based on your talents, technical abilities, experience, and overall background.
· 100% paid medical and dental premiums for employees and their dependents.
· 401(k) plan with employer matching.
· Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave (PTO).
· Stable, long-standing aviation company with professional growth opportunities.
