General Description:
Under general supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor, performs technical work related to the operation, repair and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, and performs related work as required.
Organization:
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator IV reports to the WWTP Supervisor and supervises no staff.

Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator IV and take charge of operating, maintaining, and optimizing complex wastewater treatment systems. In this vital role, you will ensure the efficient processing of wastewater in compliance with environmental regulations, utilizing advanced control systems and mechanical equipment. Duties
- Operates, repairs, and maintains the wastewater treatment plant and sludge handling facility.
- Conduct routine inspections, data collection, and troubleshooting of wastewater systems to identify issues early and implement corrective actions.
- Manage pump operations, industrial pump maintenance and repair, and heavy equipment operation to ensure continuous treatment processes.
- Analyzes and interprets data.
- Maintain detailed records of plant operations, equipment maintenance, and environmental compliance reports for regulatory audits and maintains records and files.
- Assist with complex equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and system upgrades to enhance plant efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members on safety procedures, environmental standards, and emergency response plans to uphold a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and equipment used in wastewater treatment system operation; knowledge of the occupational hazards of the work; some knowledge of the techniques used in gathering samples and routine testing required in wastewater treatment.
- Education, Experience and Training: Requires completion of training in wastewater treatment equivalent to two years at a community college - OR - some combination of training and experience that results in the same level of knowledge of wastewater treatment.
- Special Conditions: Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License, Twelve-month probationary period, Requires Class IV license as wastewater treatment plant operator within 12 months of employment, May work beyond normal schedule; Some positions require shift work, including weekends, holidays and nights, Must wear uniform, including safety equipment

Pay: $46,404.42 - $49,972.47 per year
