Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging classroom instruction and practical driving lessons for adult learners pursuing commercial driver’s license (CDL) certification
- Conduct on-road training sessions in various locations, demonstrating safe driving techniques for tractor-trailers, buses and hotshot style trucks
- Assess student progress through evaluations, providing constructive feedback to enhance skills and confidence while preparing them for the CDL skills exam
- Ensure all training activities comply with federal and state regulations, including requirements related to air brake systems, operating manual transmissions, performing vehicle inspections, backing maneuvers and road driving skills
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress in accordance with licensing standards and training regulations
- Promote safety awareness by emphasizing best practices in vehicle operation, cargo handling, and defensive driving strategies
- Stay current with industry regulations and incorporate updates into training curricula to ensure compliance and relevance
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and passenger endorsement/bus experience preferred
- Proven experience in commercial driving, including tractor-trailer operations and truck driving responsibilities
- Prior teaching or adult education experience is highly desirable; classroom experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of CDL regulations, safety protocols, and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and instruct adult learners effectively
- Ability to operate various trucks safely while demonstrating proper techniques during training sessions
- Willingness to travel frequently to different training sites within Georgia as part of the mobile instruction program
