Floor/Specialty Technician
Metropolitan Building Maintenance is seeking an experienced and dependable Floor Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of floor care and janitorial services at commercial facilities throughout the region. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and comfortable operating heavy floor care equipment in a fast-paced environment.
Position Overview
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining and restoring a variety of flooring surfaces through specialized cleaning and maintenance procedures. Duties include carpet care, hard floor maintenance, pressure washing, and general janitorial support as needed. This position requires travel between sites and operation of company vehicles and equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of commercial floor care, including: Carpet spotting and extraction; Floor scrubbing; Buffing and burnishing; Stripping and applying floor finish
- Operate and maintain floor care machinery and related equipment
- Utilize chemicals safely and appropriately according to manufacturer specifications and company procedures
- Perform pressure washing services when required
- Complete routine janitorial tasks and facility cleaning as needed
- Load, transport, and maneuver heavy equipment safely
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, professionalism, and safety at all job sites
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must be able to read and write English
- Minimum of 1 year of experience performing all aspects of commercial floor care required
- Strong working knowledge of: Floor care chemicals; Floor machines and equipment; Various flooring types; Proper floor care procedures and techniques
- Pressure washing experience strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable operating and manipulating heavy equipment
- Must be willing and able to perform regular janitorial duties as required
- Valid driver license required
- Must be insurable under company insurance requirements: No more than one moving violation within the last 3 years; No major driving incidents permitted
- Experience driving while towing a trailer strongly preferred
- Must be reliable, flexible, and capable of working independently
Schedule
Primary schedule is:
Sunday through Thursday, 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM
However, the ideal candidate must be willing and able to work any schedule on any day as business needs require.
