Position Summary
The Compliance & Permitting Officer is responsible for ensuring J&J Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric remains fully compliant with all federal, state, county, and municipal licensing, permitting, and regulatory requirements. This individual serves as the central point of coordination for permits, inspections, contractor registrations, licensing renewals, and technician certifications across all company divisions.This role works closely with all department managers, field technicians, dispatch, and office staff to ensure every project is properly permitted, inspected, documented, and completed in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain all company licenses, registrations, and certifications required to legally operate throughout Ohio. Track and renew company registrations, licenses, and permits before expiration. Obtain permits for plumbing, HVAC, electrical, sewer, water service, backflow, boiler, well, and other regulated work. Schedule and coordinate all required inspections with municipalities and regulatory agencies. Track permits from application through final inspection and project closeout. Serve as the primary liaison with city, county, township, state, and health departments. Travel to municipal offices to submit applications, obtain permits, resolve issues, and attend meetings when necessary. Coordinate with all department managers, dispatchers, and technicians to ensure inspections are completed on time. Maintain records of all employee licenses and certifications. Track continuing education and recertification requirements for plumbing, HVAC, electrical, backflow, boiler, well, NATE, EPA, OSHA, manufacturer, and other required certifications. Notify employees and managers of upcoming renewal deadlines. Maintain organized digital and physical compliance records. Prepare compliance reports and assist with audits. Develop and improve internal compliance procedures. Perform additional administrative and compliance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED. Two or more years of administrative, permitting, compliance, construction administration, or municipal experience preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and office software. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

- All company licenses and registrations maintained without lapse. Permits submitted accurately and on time. Inspections coordinated efficiently. Employee certifications renewed before expiration. Compliance records maintained in an organized, audit-ready manner. Strong communication with all department managers and regulatory agencies.
Pay: $52,000.00 per year
