We are seeking individuals looking for part-time work for Traffic Control at the beginning of the school day and at dismissal time. The School Traffic Person is responsible for ensuring the safety of students, parents, and staff during arrival and dismissal times by directing traffic, assisting pedestrians at crosswalks, and maintaining a safe and orderly flow of vehicles and foot traffic around the school premises.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist students and families in safely crossing streets near the school.
- Monitor and manage traffic flow in school parking lots and drop-off/pick-up zones.
- Ensure vehicles obey posted school zone speed limits and traffic regulations.
- Use hand signals, signs, or flags to direct cars and pedestrians safely.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to school administration or law enforcement.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with drivers, students, and staff.
- Set up and remove traffic cones, barricades, or signage as needed.
- Remain alert and attentive to surroundings to quickly respond to emergencies.
- Follow all school district and local traffic safety protocols.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to student safety.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions (rain, sun, wind, cold).
- Work hours typically include mornings before school and afternoons after dismissal.
- May require wearing a uniform or safety vest.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this role is offered between $16.50 and $17 per hour. Final compensation will be at the discretion of the hiring team based upon the candidate’s interview performance and relevant professional experience. A minimum of 4 hours is to be worked on school days (and employees are paid during school breaks).
