American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Labor & Delivery night shift travel assignment, requiring active L&D, postpartum, and circulating experience along with AWHONN fetal monitoring certification.

Acute care hospital setting on a Women's Services unit (Labor & Delivery, Postpartum)
-
Unit includes 10 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 4 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds, averaging approximately 120 births per month
-
Patient population includes laboring patients 32 weeks and greater, elective and medical inductions, stable antepartum patients, postpartum patients, and well newborns
-
Staffing ratios follow AWHONN standards: primarily 1:1 in L&D and 1:6 couple care in postpartum

L&D RNs are required to circulate in the OR for C-sections

RNs are required to titrate drips; common titratable drips include Pitocin per protocol, magnesium, and occasionally insulin
-
GE Connect EFM system is used on the unit; Epic is the EMR
-
12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a; weekends required based on unit needs
-
Holiday coverage required based on unit needs

No on-call or standby requirement

Travelers are first to float and may be floated to like L&D units within the valley (approximately 20 minutes apart); true floating to a separate location is rare and notice is given prior to the shift

Active ID or Compact RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses will not be accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Required certifications (all must be active, no pending certifications accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E. (taken at least once), and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring

Experience in L&D, postpartum, and OR circulating required; triage experience strongly preferred

Epic EMR experience required

Valid driver's license required

Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
-
Responsibilities include caring for laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients, circulating for C-sections, and managing titratable drips per protocol

Unit is well-supported with a Charge RN and Resource RN (neither carrying an assignment) plus a House Supervisor on every shift
-
CNA support available on L&D/PP/NICU 4–5 days and nights per week; unit clerk available 24/7
-
OB hospitalist and midwives are available 24/7; Neonatal NP is on-site 24/7 with a Neonatologist on call within 15 minutes; CRNA available 24/7
-
Orientation is customized per traveler, typically 4–6 shifts

No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted

Blue scrubs are provided on the unit

Former permanent employees of this facility must have been away for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
