The Payroll Specialist (Timekeeper) will be responsible for processing payroll and timekeeping actions and assisting in payroll related activities, maintaining human resources and payroll related records, and providing information to management and employees regarding compensation and employment.Recruitment details: We are accepting applications from candidates internal to King County who have completed any probationary periods. This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Careen Service (CS) and one (1) Special Duty Assignment (SDA) .This recruitment may also be used to create an eligibility pool of qualified candidates for both positions to fill future CS and SDA openings in this classification and workgroup, for use up to 12 months after the creation of the pool, at the discretion of the hiring authority.

As the Payroll Specialist, you will: Prepare and process Transit employees' time reportingGather payroll data for analysis, time entry, and processing timekeeping records for assigned basesAudit and correct employee time entries for the current payroll periodPerform preliminary analysis and audits for bi-weekly payroll productionGenerate HASTUS and PeopleSoft reports (daily and bi-weekly) utilizing the information database; schedule reports and queriesExecute payroll time entry functions; identify and resolve data entry and processing problems; troubleshoot and resolve all errors in a timely mannerExecute payroll time entry feeders from HASTUS to PeopleSoft Time and Labor moduleMeet all established payroll deadlinesEnsure all processed employee time is accurateUse Transit's PARS/Payroll action resolution for Transit basesAudit, troubleshoot, analyze, and correct employee recordsFunction as payroll resource and subject matter expert for base chiefs and supervisorsRespond to questions from employees regarding payroll and payroll related mattersTrain Transit Operations employees for payroll and related PeopleSoft functionsResearch payroll discrepancies and request manual checks from Payroll Operations as required for Transit employeesEnter or request past payroll period adjustments or retro payments as requiredProvide verification of employment for all Transit employeesIdentify overpayments and work with the employee and base staff to resolveAll other timekeeping duties as needed for Transit employees
