Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Monitor patient conditions through patient observation and report changes to ensure accurate medical documentation.
- Support medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Assist client in performing vital signs assessments such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to track health status.
- Provide specialized care for patients with different diseases and/or ailments, including memory care techniques and behavioral management strategies.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning and preparation to meet dietary needs.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as laundry and general cleaning.
- Document all patient interactions accurately to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Support clients’ emotional well-being through compassionate communication and engaging activities tailored to individual preferences.
Experience
- Prior experience in home health care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or long-term care settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals who have developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and vital signs monitoring is essential.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation purposes is advantageous.
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is preffered;
- Proven ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Strong caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and excellent communication abilities are key to success in this role.
