We're looking for a Dog Trainer to help out our busy Dog Training business in Long Beach, CA.
Pawsitive K9 Solutions is a reputable and growing dog training company located in Long Beach, CA, specializing in positive reinforcement training methods. Our programs include Puppy Day School, Board & Train and Private Training, focusing on helping dogs build confidence, focus, and calm behavior through compassionate, science-based techniques.
Position Overview:
We’re looking for a dependable and enthusiastic Dog Trainer to join our team! The ideal candidate has hands on experience with dogs of various breeds and temperaments, a solid understanding of positive reinforcement, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of dogs and their families.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group training sessions for Pup Day School and Board & Train dogs using positive reinforcement methods.
- Develop and follow customized training plans based on each dog’s needs, temperament, and progress.
- Monitor and document each dog’s daily progress, providing updates and feedback for clients.
- Educate pet parents on proper handling techniques, positive reinforcement methods, and effective communication with their dogs.
- Teach and coach pet parents during transfer sessions to ensure success at home.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and positive training environment.
- Collaborate with teammates and staff to ensure a supportive and cohesive team atmosphere.
- Participate in supervised field trips (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Outdoor Parks, etc.) to generalize training in real-world settings.
- Safely transport dogs to and from client homes using the company dog shuttle mini-van.
- Support daily care routines including crate time, feeding, potty breaks, and enrichment.
Qualifications:
- Previous professional dog training experience required.
- Knowledge of positive reinforcement and force-free training methods.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and observation skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (required)
- Comfortable driving dogs to and from client homes using company vehicles.
- Reliable transportation to commute daily to Long Beach.
Schedule:
- Wednesday-Sunday Schedule
- Available either Part or full time between 5:00 AM – 4:00 PM (hours may vary)
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly pay: $19-23/hour, depending on experience
