Job Title: House Manager
(Stipend Position/$50 per performance)
Reports To: Front of House Manager
Job Summary:
The House Manager will have the opportunity to lead and deliver exceptional customer service in a dynamic work environment. In this role, the House Manager will prepare the theatre and its surrounding space to welcome the audience and provide the most positive experience possible. Their duties will include managing the front of house volunteers, opening and closing the building, coordinating with the Stage Manager, and leading the seating of audience members. The House Manager will ensure that every patron and guest to Grand Rapids Civic Theatre experiences the highest possible standard of customer service and hospitality. Ideal applicants will enjoy working collaboratively with their colleagues and customers, and will be open-minded and eager to work within a dynamic team.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Ensure that every guest to Grand Rapids Civic Theatre is being provided with the highest possible standard of customer service and hospitality.
- Carry oneself in a professional manner at all times.
- Manage Concessions sales and cash during performances.
- Resolve patron issues as they arise, ranging from seating issues to safety concerns.
- Maintain responsibility for opening and closing the building for performances.
- Oversee the safe evacuation of the venue should emergencies occur.
- Coordinate with the Stage Manager to ensure the venue opens on time, programs start on time, late seating is on schedule, and intermissions stay within the allotted time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Experience in problem solving
- Strong autonomous decision-making abilities
- Ability to multi-task while employing time management skills
Schedule and Compensation:
- Compensation of $50.00 per performance
- House Managers can expect to work 1-3 shifts during performance weeks
- Each performance will have 2 House Managers on duty
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- The schedule for the entire season will be created prior to our opening and based around the conflicts that you submit
