Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of commercial spaces, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas, using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Handle chemical agents safely by following established safety protocols and handling procedures to prevent accidents or contamination
- Operate floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment to maintain floors in optimal condition
- Conduct sanitation procedures such as disinfecting surfaces, trash removal, and restocking supplies to uphold health standards
- Lift heavy cleaning supplies or equipment safely by adhering to proper manual handling techniques and safe lifting practices
- Maintain cleanliness logs and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to supervisors
- Support facilities maintenance tasks as needed, including minor repairs or painting projects like residential or industrial painting
Experience
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or industrial settings preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, safety procedures for chemical handling, and sanitation standards is highly desirable
- Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy lifting, chemical handling, and general custodial work
- Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with clients and staff while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness
- Background in facilities maintenance or porter experience is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
