Project Accounting Manager

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical Project Accounting Manager to lead our high-volume operational finance division. Managing a dedicated team of Construction Project Accountants and AP specialists, you will oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and complex construction billing cycles. In this fast-paced design-build environment, you will serve as the premier financial anchor bridging field operations and corporate finance.
Core ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Capacity Building
- Supervision & Mentorship: Direct, coach, and scale a high-performing team of 12–15 Accounts Payable clerks and Project Accountants; foster a culture of cross-functional adaptability.
- Solution-Oriented Execution: Independently resolve processing bottlenecks, design modern workflows, and equip team members with the tactical guidance required to thrive under shifting operational variables.
Full-Cycle AP & AR Lifecycle Governance
- Financial Stewardship: Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable and Receivable functions within QuickBooks/ERP systems to optimize cash flow and ensure flawless data integrity.
- Vendor Portal Management: Oversee extensive team interactions across proprietary client and builder portals (including Supply Pro, MarkSystems, ComplyCore, Precoro, etc.).
- Month-End Acceleration: Establish rigid internal controls, audit recurring financial data entry, and systematically expedite month-end close cycles.
Project Cost Controls & Subcontractor Compliance
- Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner directly with Project Managers, Estimators, and Area Leaders to streamline progressive billing, monitor real-time job costing, and reconcile material variances.
- Commercial Frameworks: Oversee hybrid residential/commercial project financials, ensuring a masterful command of AIA billing practices (G702/G703).
- Risk Mitigation: Enforce absolute subcontractor compliance, tracking and managing lien waivers, insurance certificates, and corporate documentation to protect the organization from financial exposure.
Dispute Resolution & Workflow Optimization
- Advanced Problem Solving: Act as the ultimate escalation point to proactively resolve complex vendor variance challenges, historical billing errors, and accounts receivable disputes.
- Systems Evolution: Continually evaluate accounting workflows, identify ERP operational friction, and leverage analytics or automated reporting tools to maximize efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a dedicated team management or supervisory role.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business field.
- Industry Expertise: Direct financial/accounting experience within the construction, design-build, or real estate sectors is strictly required.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep, fundamental understanding of residential construction budgeting, production schedules, and payment cycles.
- Systems Proficiency: Advanced mastery of QuickBooks or mid-tier construction ERPs (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, MS Dynamics 365) paired with expert-level MS Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, advanced formulas).

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
