Job Description:
Chewy seeks a Senior Program Manager – Launch & Capital Projects to direct the planning, management, supervision, and effective delivery of strategic fulfillment center launches, capital projects, automation deployments, and network optimization initiatives! This role will be the main program leader responsible for making sure several concurrent projects meet deadlines, stay within scope, and support business priorities.
Unlike a traditional project manager who is passionate about one initiative, this position is responsible for the project management framework across the Launch organization. The Senior Program Manager will develop uniform project management processes, ensure portfolio visibility, encourage accountability in cross-functional teams, manage risks proactively, and provide executive reporting on project health.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing large construction, automation, warehouse, or manufacturing programs. They excel at coordinating diverse partners and bringing structure and rigor to complex project portfolios!
Program & Portfolio Management

Manage a portfolio of large-scale fulfillment center launches, facility expansions, automation implementations, and operational improvement initiatives.

Build and maintain coordinated project plans across multiple concurrent programs.

Standardize project management approaches, governance, reporting, and implementation processes across the Launch organization.

Develop portfolio dashboards providing executive access to project health, achievements, risks, budgets, and resource utilization.

Develop uniform project templates, phase checkpoints, and project documentation.

Develop comprehensive project timeline with detailed achievements, dependencies, critical paths, and resource plans.

Coordinate construction, operations, engineering, IT, WMS, HR, procurement, vendors, and third-party contractors throughout project execution.

Ensure projects remain on schedule and proactively identify mitigation plans for emerging risks.

Manage commissioning, operational readiness, user acceptance testing (UAT), and launch activities.

Lead post-launch stabilization and project closeout activities.

Act as the main authority for project governance throughout the Launch organization.

Facilitate recurring project reviews, executive steering meetings, and cross-functional status reviews.

Maintain project documentation, RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), decision logs, and change requests.

Ensure project achievements, deliverables, and ownership are clearly defined and actively tracked.

Hold project owners accountable for commitments while advancing critical risks when necessary.

Own and continuously improve the organization’s project management platform (e.g., Asana).

Develop standardized workflows, templates, reporting dashboards, and automated notifications.

Train project managers and business collaborators on project management guidelines.

Ensure project data remains accurate, current, and actionable.

Prepare executive-level communications summarizing project status, accomplishments, risks, decisions, and upcoming achievements.

Present portfolio updates to senior leadership.

Translate complex project information into concise, actionable business updates.

Ensure alignment across Operations, Engineering, Finance, HR, IT, Safety, and external vendors.

Track project budgets, forecasts, invoicing, and capital expenditures.

Support vendor selection, contract management, scope changes, and commercial negotiations.

Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations and project achievements.

Find opportunities to improve launch execution, project governance, and operational readiness.

Develop standardized playbooks and lessons learned for future launches.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project execution processes.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

8+ years of experience managing complex cross-functional programs.
-
5+ years leading construction, fulfillment center launch, automation, manufacturing, or capital projects.
-
Verified experience coordinating various concurrent projects worth more than $10M in capital.

Strong understanding of project scheduling methodologies including critical path analysis.

Experience implementing project governance frameworks and PMO guidelines.

Experience with project management platforms such as Asana, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, etc.

Strong understanding of warehouse operations, material handling systems, WMS implementations, and automation technologies.

Outstanding organizational, communication, and executive presentation skills.

Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Experience managing vendors, contractors, and cross-functional collaborators.

PMP certification is highly desirable.

Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.

Travel up to 20–30% depending on active project phases and launch schedules.
The hourly range for this role is $53.84 - $86.29.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year.
