Pool Server Job Duties & Responsibilities
Greeting guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explaining all specials, promotions and food items on the menu to guide the guest(s) through their dining experience.
Server Responsibilities:
- Guiding guests through the menu tour to answer questions about ingredients and preparations. Discuss daily specials in a suggestive manner to upsell.
- Recommending additional food and beverages to compliment selected items to enhance the dining experience.
- Take full guest orders to best service meal, using guest check and repeating order back to guest for confirmation.
- Enter order into computer point of sale system, using correct lounge numbers, table number, seat numbers and cover counts
- Ensuring the guest needs are met, including keeping beverages full, providing additional condiments and/or food items, and checking back with guests during their meal for guest satisfaction
- Suggestively upselling of desserts at the completion of their entrees along with the appropriate after dinner beverages, including coffee, specialty coffees or after dinner cocktails.
- Presenting an accurate check in a timely manner upon completion of the meal.
- Collecting payment and providing change in a timely manner.
- Balancing end-of-day paperwork, including cash, credit card and due backs with minimal errors, overages or shortages.
- Completing side work in accordance to guidelines established by MOD.
- Supporting other areas of the restaurant as necessary to ensure the full dining experience of each guest.
- Maintaining a complete knowledge and understanding of menu items throughout service and when changes are instituted by MOD and/or Chef for understanding of ingredients and preparations to best answer guests’ questions.
- Be on-time to one’s scheduled shift.
Job Requirements
The ideal Server candidate will have at least one year of server experience, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for delivering excellent service. The minimum qualifications for this position are:
- Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
- Possess a basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Must be willing to and have the ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 30 pounds through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift.
- Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with guests using a positive, clear speaking voice.
- Must have a valid Responsible Beverage Service certification through the state of California or be capable of obtaining certification prior to starting first shift.
- Must have a valid Riverside County Certified Food Handlers Card or be capable of obtaining one prior to starting first shift.
