Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a fairly new mobile oncology speciality service operational in Whatcom, Skagit, and Snohomish counties. The ideal candidates will have strong client communication skills and be eager to help bring specialty care to underserved areas.
This position requires a strong understanding of animal care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and compact space.
Responsibilities
- In this role, you will play a critical part in providing compassionate care to pets with cancer, working closely with the oncology team to develop treatment plans and administer treatments
- Greet patients and their owners as they arrive
- Assist veterinarians in developing and administering treatment plans
- Administer chemotherapy treatments and monitor patients for adverse reactions
- Calm and soothe anxious patients and pet parents
- Collect and run diagnostic tests, such as blood work and imaging studies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients
- Communicate effectively with clients and team to ensure seamless care delivery
- Help with answering phone, emails, and text messages
- Educate clients about the treatment plan, side effects, and side effect management
Minimum Requirements
- Client-focused approach
- Minimum of 2 years of veterinary assistant experience
- Ability to regularly lift 35+ lbs
- Valid driver license/reliable vehicle/ability to commute to areas within Whatcom, Skagit, and Snohomish County
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective time management skills
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a confined treatment space
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and drug names

The main workspace for our business is in our mobile oncology hospital where employees regularly handle chemotherapy and other hazardous drugs. If an employee is trying to become pregnant, becomes pregnant, or is breastfeeding, they are not permitted in the moblie hospital as occupational exposure to these hazardous drugs could cause adverse reproductive outcomes.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
