Job Title: Team Lead — Overtime Athletics Louisville
Location: Louisville, KY
Job Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Approximately 15-20 hours per week during active program sessions
Pay: $20/hour
Additional Compensation: $50/week miscellaneous expense payment during active program weeks, plus session performance bonus
Start Date: August 2026
Overtime Athletics is hiring a Team Lead for our Louisville youth sports programs.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is dependable, organized, great with kids, and comfortable supporting coaches in the field. The Team Lead helps make sure our Louisville programs are staffed, supported, and delivered successfully.
The primary responsibility of this role is simple: make sure Louisville programs run as scheduled, coaches are supported, and staffing issues are handled locally before they become larger problems.
This is not a sales role. The Team Lead does not sell programs or manage school partnerships. This role is focused on staffing, coach support, site visits, substitute coordination, equipment support, and program delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
Field Management Presence
The Team Lead is expected to visit two Louisville program sites per active program day unless personally coaching or subbing that day.
Site visits may include:
- Checking in with coaches before or during programs.
- Making sure coaches have what they need.
- Observing program quality and class structure.
- Helping with roster questions, equipment needs, or site setup.
- Communicating basic program updates when needed.
- Providing a visible local leadership presence for OTA Louisville.
Staffing and Substitute Coordination
The Team Lead helps make sure all Louisville programs are properly staffed and covered.
Responsibilities include:
- Helping manage coach availability and weekly coverage.
- Communicating with substitute coaches when coverage is needed.
- Helping solve staffing issues before they affect programs.
- Serving as the local backstop when substitute coverage fails.
- Stepping in to coach when needed to make sure a program is delivered.
- Communicating staffing issues quickly and professionally.
Coach Recruiting and Support
The Team Lead helps build and maintain a dependable Louisville coaching team.
Responsibilities include:
- Helping recruit, screen, and onboard new Louisville coaches.
- Identifying strong potential coaches in the Louisville area.
- Supporting new coaches with expectations, class structure, and professionalism.
- Helping coaches understand OTA curriculum and program standards.
- Helping build a reliable local coaching bench.
Program Operations
The Team Lead supports day-to-day field operations for OTA Louisville.
Responsibilities include:
- Helping distribute equipment and coordinate gear exchanges between locations.
- Supporting coaches with OTA curriculum, class structure, and expectations.
- Reporting issues early and helping solve problems before they affect schools, families, or program delivery.
- Maintaining strong communication with OTA leadership.
- Helping ensure programs are safe, organized, active, and professional.
What We Provide
- Established curriculum and program plans.
- Existing hiring, onboarding, and training systems.
- Scheduling tools and operational support.
- Equipment and program materials.
- Support from OTA leadership.
You will not be expected to build the program from scratch. Your role is to help execute the system, support the coaching team, and make sure Louisville programs are delivered reliably.
Compensation
- $20/hour for scheduled work, including site visits, coaching, sub coverage, hiring support, onboarding, communication, and equipment movement.
- $50/week miscellaneous expense payment during active program weeks to support travel between sites, gear exchanges, and field-related needs.
- Session performance bonus available at the end of each completed 6-week school-year programming session.
Session Bonus Opportunity
The Team Lead is eligible for an escalating performance bonus during the school year:
- Fall A Session: $300
- Fall B Session: $400
- Winter Session: $500
- Spring Session: $600
The bonus is earned when Louisville programs are delivered successfully without staffing or field operations issues escalating to OTA leadership or creating additional cost to the business.
To earn the session bonus:
- All scheduled Louisville programs must be covered.
- No program may be left uncovered due to staffing.
- Required site visits must be completed unless the Team Lead is personally coaching or subbing that day.
- No expected school renewals may be lost due to staffing issues, coach reliability, poor communication, or program delivery problems.
- The Team Lead must be available and in town for the full session.
- Staffing issues must be handled quickly, locally, and professionally.
The bonus remains eligible when normal program issues come up but are solved locally and professionally. The bonus is forfeited if a staffing or field operations issue results in an uncovered program, owner intervention, avoidable refunds/credits, or a lost renewal due to program delivery concerns.
Schedule
This is a part-time role, typically 15-20 hours per week during active school-year programming sessions.
Most work occurs Monday through Friday between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Hours may vary by session depending on program schedule, staffing needs, site visits, hiring, and substitute coverage.
The Team Lead must be available and in town during all four school-year programming sessions. On active program days, the Team Lead is expected to visit two program sites unless personally coaching or subbing that day.
Qualifications
- Experience coaching, teaching, leading youth programs, or managing staff is preferred.
- Must enjoy working with children.
- Must be reliable, organized, and proactive.
- Must have strong communication skills with adults and kids.
- Must be comfortable solving problems quickly.
- Must be willing to coach when needed.
- Must have reliable transportation in the Louisville area.
- Must be available during weekday after-school hours.
- Background check and Child Abuse and Neglect check are required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a dependable leader who can keep programs covered, communicate clearly, support coaches, and jump in when needed.
This person does not panic when a coach calls out. They help solve the problem, find the sub, or cover the class themselves.
This is a great fit for someone with experience in youth sports, education, recreation, coaching, after-school programming, or staff coordination who wants real leadership experience in a growing youth sports organization.
If you love working with kids, enjoy sports, and want to help lead youth programs in Louisville, we’d love to hear from you.
