D.Experience
- Previousworkexperiencewith operating roominstruments or in an operating roomenvironment is preferred.
- Basic telephoneandcomputerskills highlyrecommended.
III Duties / Responsibilities:
Assistsoperatingroomstaff in facilitatingsurgicalcases,using computerizedpreference cards asresources(referencingvarioustypes of cases andsurgeons).
- Assemblessuppliesforsurgicalcasesusingprotocolsforhandling andstoring sterilesupplies.
- Assistsnursing personnel onthesterileset-up of an operative room forspecificproceduresandsurgeons.
- Obtains,cleans andsetsupequipmentneeded forsurgery. Includescleaning andassembling complicatedequipmentsuch as carouselsuctions, stirrups, OR beds and bed attachments.
- Deliversspecimenstothe appropriatePathology/Laboratory area.
- Performscarefulcleaning andflash autoclavingofspecialtyinstrumentsbetween cases.
- Cleansandreturnsequipment and/orsupplies to properstorageareas/CSR/otherdepartments.
- Assists in operation byholdingretractors orretracting to providesufficientexposureusinggoodsteriletechnique.
Preparesandtransportspatients safelywhilemaintainingmodesty.
According toestablished policyand procedure,performs betweencasecleaningwithinthe ORSuite,maintaininganeat andorganizedphysicalenvironment.
Underthe directions ofthe ORnurse,assistswith transfer,lifting and/orpositioningofpatients,utilizing correct bodymechanicsfor ananesthetizedpatient. Assistsin patient preparation byholding patient'slimbsduringprep.
Cleans,stocksandmaintainsspecialty carts andequipment. Checks andstockslinenandsolutions.Monitorsandmaintains gas tankinventory. Maintains suppliesandmaterialsin a cost effectivemanner under direction of the service coordinators.
Maintainssurgical transport carts.
- Routinelyinventoriescartsfor appropriateequipment.
- Completeswork order as appropriate.
Maintains confidentiality ofpatientrecords/information. Attends in-serviceeducation program asnecessary.
Performsadditionalsupportiveduties as directed bytheSupervisor, BoardCoordinator ordesignatedRN.
Performsscheduledand randominventoryand restocksitemswhen supplylevels reach low levels inthe ORsuites. Daily room checks, to putaway sterilesupplies.
Fill out repairforms onequipment andtake it tothe OR Materials Coordinator.Return repairedequipment and notify coordinator of all repairs sent out and returned.
Handles andstoressterilesupplies properly to protecttheintegrity ofthepackageandmaintain itssterility.
Maintain aneat, cleanworkenvironmentandutilize goodstorageanddistribution techniques (i.e., replacepreference cards,promptreturn ofequipmentfrom OR suites andhalls to properstoragelocation, proper care of lead aprons).
Processes allnecessarypaperwork/documentation accuratelyandtimely.
Collaborateswith otherpersonnelwithinthe Hospitalandoutsidethe Hospital to provideservicesthatwillassureefficient operations aremaintained indepartment (i.e.,Buildings&Grounds,BioSentry, etc).
Communicates allpertinentinformation related todepartmentsupplies andequipment promptlyandthoroughly to appropriatepersonnel.Makesrecommendationsregarding inventoryadjustmentsand operationalchangesthatmayimprovedepartmentefficiencyandeconomy ofinventory.
III Duties / Responsibilities:
Monitor OR Boardfrequently toidentifytransportation, bedrequirements,supplies,equipment andcase cartneedsfor each case. Collaborateswith otherpersonnelwithinthe Hospitalandoutsidethe Hospital to provideservicesthatwillassureefficient operations aremaintained indepartment (i.e.,Buildings&Grounds,BioSentry, etc). When assigned to Service Line Coordinator will be assisting with patient positioning, scrubbing into cases to retract, setup of service line specific equipment (Hana tables, Davinci robot etc.) as well as the preparation of case carts for the current and following days’ surgical procedures. Communicates allpertinentinformation related todepartmentsupplies andequipment promptlyandthoroughly to appropriatepersonnel.Makesrecommendationsregarding inventoryadjustmentsand operationalchangesthatmayimprovedepartmentefficiencyandeconomy ofinventory. Demonstrates andactivelypromotes anunderstanding andcommitment tothemissionof St. Joseph MercyOaklandthrough performing behaviors consistentwith the TrinityHealth Values.
