ABOUT THE MARKETING & EVENTS MANAGER POSITION:
The Marketing & Events Manager will lead the Sound Industrial Alliance's marketing, communications, and event programming to strengthen engagement across Seattle's industrial community and elevate awareness of SIA's work and impact. Working closely with SIA leadership, this position will oversee industry tours, networking events, social media, newsletters, media relations, and brand management. We are seeking a collaborative, creative, and highly organized professional with strong communication and relationship-building skills who is passionate about connecting people, promoting a mission, and growing organizational visibility.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strengthen SIA's visibility, stakeholder relationships, and industry engagement through strategic communications, marketing, and event programming.
- Marketing Strategy: Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy that advances SIA's mission, strengthens stakeholder engagement, and increases visibility across Seattle's industrial sectors.
- Brand Integration: Support the consistent implementation of the SIA brand across all internal and external communications, presentations, marketing materials, digital platforms, and organizational collateral.
- Event Planning and Coordination: Lead the execution of industry tours, networking events, and other events that support SIA's strategic objectives.
- Website Improvements: Strengthen SIA's digital presence by enhancing the website, developing engaging content, and ensuring a consistent online brand experience.
- Newsletter & Stakeholder Communications: Produce and distribute regular communications, including SIA's quarterly newsletter, event announcements, member updates, and other stakeholder communications.
- Presentations & Marketing Materials: Create presentations, one-pagers, event materials, promotional content, and other visual communications that effectively communicate SIA's work and impact.
- Social Media Management: Develop, maintain, and execute a social media strategy and content calendar that increases engagement, expands reach, and promotes SIA programs, events, and advocacy efforts.
- Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and industry publications to increase earned media coverage and elevate awareness of SIA initiatives and key industry issues.
- Marketing Analytics & Reporting: Track, analyze, and report on key marketing, communications, social media, website, and event performance metrics to measure success.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Support additional organizational priorities and special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, event management, or a related field.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written, editing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content for a variety of audiences and platforms.
- Marketing & Branding: Experience developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies, maintaining brand consistency, and promoting organizational visibility.
- Event Management: Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and executing events, meetings, tours, networking functions, or stakeholder engagement activities.
- Media Relations: Ability to develop relationships with media outlets and secure earned media opportunities through strategic outreach and storytelling.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, social media platforms, and website content management systems; experience with graphic design, email marketing, Squarespace, or similar tools is preferred.
- Analytics & Reporting: Experience tracking and analyzing communications, marketing, website, social media, and event performance metrics.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with team members, vendors, media partners, and external stakeholders.
- Adaptability & Initiative: Highly self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small-team environment and take ownership of projects from concept to completion.
- Mission Alignment: Interest in economic development, industrial and maritime industries, public policy, or nonprofit work, with a commitment to advancing SIA's mission and values.
COMPENSATION:
$40 - $60 per hour, DOE.
