Kitchen Assistant – Assisted Living Facility

Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to support the daily operations of our assisted living facility's kitchen and dining areas. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, sanitary, organized, and welcoming environment for our residents while assisting the culinary team with basic food preparation and kitchen duties.
The ideal candidate is a team player who takes pride in cleanliness, organization, food safety, and providing excellent service to our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Clear dishes, trays, and other items from dining tables after meals.
- Set dining tables before meals according to facility standards.
- Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, countertops, and other dining surfaces.
- Sweep and mop kitchen, dining, and designated service areas.
- Wipe down and sanitize kitchen counters, work surfaces, equipment, and high-touch areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen throughout the shift.
- Restock resident kitchenettes with approved food items, beverages, and supplies as needed.
- Restock kitchen and dining areas with dishes, utensils, napkins, condiments, and other necessary supplies.
- Assist with basic food preparation as directed by the Head Chef or Assistant Chef, including washing, peeling, cutting, portioning, and preparing ingredients.
- Assist with meal service and ensure dining areas are prepared before and after meals.
- Properly dispose of garbage and recycling and replace trash liners as needed.
- Clean and sanitize sinks, dishwashing areas, floors, and other assigned areas.
- Follow proper sanitation and food-safety procedures at all times.
- Properly store food and supplies as directed by the culinary team.
- Assist with maintaining an organized and orderly kitchen and storage areas.
- Report spills, damaged equipment, low supplies, or sanitation concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow all facility policies and procedures regarding cleanliness, sanitation, food safety, and resident care.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and friendly attitude when interacting with residents and staff.
- Perform other kitchen and dining-service duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen, restaurant, housekeeping, dietary, or food-service experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely lift and carry kitchen supplies, dishes, and equipment as required.
- Food Handler certification preferred or required according to applicable regulations.

Pay: $14.50 - $15.50 per hour
