Join our dynamic municipal team as a full-time City Clerk, where you will serve as the vital link between local government operations and the community. In this energetic role, you will oversee essential administrative functions, manage official records, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and facilitate transparent communication.
The City of New Sharon is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual to serve as our Full-Time City Clerk. The City Clerk is responsible for maintaining official city records, supporting the City Council, assisting with municipal administration, and providing excellent service to residents and the public. Your expertise will help uphold the integrity of city operations while fostering an organized, efficient environment that benefits residents, officials, and staff alike.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare City Council meeting agendas, packets, and minutes.
- Maintain official records, ordinances, resolutions, and other municipal documents.
- Publish legal notices and ensure compliance with state record keeping requirements.
- Prepare Payroll and quarterly payroll taxes
- Respond to public inquiries and records requests.
- Process licenses, permits, and other city forms as assigned.
- Maintain filing systems and administrative records.
- Assist with municipal elections and other statutory responsibilities.
- Coordinate communication between city departments, elected officials, and the public.
- Perform general office and administrative duties.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
Preferred:
- Experience in municipal government, public administration, or office management.
- Knowledge of local government procedures and records management.
- Experience with accounting or financial software is a plus.

Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 30-40 hours per week
- Occasional evening attendance at City Council meetings may be required.
