American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health (Adult) night shift position requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of behavioral health experience.

Inpatient behavioral health setting within a hospital pavilion, serving adult and adolescent psychiatric populations
-
Unit comprises three adult behavioral health units (AU1, AU2, AU3) with a total of 60 beds
-
Patient ratios vary by unit: AU1 up to 23 adult patients, AU2 up to 8 adult and 8 adolescent patients, AU3 up to 14 adult patients

Documentation system: Meditech (experience required)

Equipment used includes quick-release synthetic restraints, EKG, glucometer, computer, printer, fax, and telephone

Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Every other weekend required
-
Rotating holiday coverage required
-
Floating to all units required
-
13-week contract
-
Active VA or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

CPI certification required (SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA may be accepted in lieu of CPI based on facility review)

Minimum 2 years of recent behavioral health nursing experience required

Electronic health record (EHR) documentation experience required

Verbal de-escalation skills required

Proficiency with manual blood pressure, glucometer, and EKG required
-
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
-
Professional reference(s) required for consideration (one reference for most states; Florida and Missouri candidates require two references)

Responsibilities include observation rounds and monitoring, vital signs, glucometer checks, patient and belongings searches, milieu management and safety, and educational group therapy

Must complete a Care Experience Module during onboarding

Unit 3 has received an HCA Healthcare Unit of Distinction Honorable Mention award (2023)

Burgundy/maroon scrubs required

Fingerprint processing is required for this position as part of Virginia state onboarding

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
-
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
