Inventory Specialist
Location: Hayward, CA Airport Home Appliance
Department: Warehouse & Logistics
Reports to: Inventory Lead / Supervisor
Position Summary
The Inventory Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our inventory operations. This position supports the Lead and Supervisors by managing communication, investigating inventory discrepancies, preparing daily reports, and maintaining the quality and accuracy of outbound items. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Accuracy & Operations
- Perform door checks to validate inventory against drivers' manifests.
- Ensure accurate picking and support inbound accuracy.
- Validate all outbound staging lanes for defect-free and damage-free items.
- Research and resolve inventory discrepancies (e.g., overages, shortages, damages).
- Coordinate with Inventory Control for resolution of inventory issues.
- Conduct audits (e.g., customer pick-up audits) and assist with load out labeling and tagging.
Communication & Reporting
- Respond to and resolve inquiries via the NetSuite Ticketing System.
- Assist store and DC teams with transfer-related issues, including committed/uncommitted orders and re-committing items.
- Send daily recap emails to leadership outlining key metrics and insights.
- Communicate with stores and Distribution Center (DC) Leaders about items not in location (NIL).
- Notify relevant parties about missing, damaged, or misrouted items.
Dock & Outbound Support
- Unlock dock doors post driver sign-off and verification.
- Clear and process damaged, extra, rescheduled, NoGos, and overload items from freight lanes.
- Ensure all outbound items are properly labeled and staged.
Safety & Equipment Use
- Operate power equipment/forklift/clamp/order picker and radio frequency (RF) devices safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and debris-free warehouse environment.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
General Duties
- Meet or exceed productivity standards.
- Handle additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2–4 years of inventory control experience in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Skills & Proficiency
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience with NetSuite or other ERP/WMS systems preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Licenses & Certifications
- No specific certifications required.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $19.00 – $24.00 per hour
Compensation is based on experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
