We are seeking a personable, resourceful, and community-oriented professional to increase awareness of our ABA services and develop trusted relationships throughout Essex County.
Position Overview
The ABA Community Outreach Liaison will represent Heart to Heart’s ABA program in the local community and help families, professionals, and community organizations better understand the services available through our East Orange clinic.
This is a field-based relationship-development position. The successful candidate will spend time both at the clinic and throughout the community, meeting with referral sources, attending events, providing program information, coordinating clinic tours, and connecting interested families with the intake team.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in ABA, children’s behavioral health, child welfare, education, family services, or community outreach. A current or former Registered Behavior Technician, retired child-welfare professional, family-support professional, or community liaison may be especially well suited for the role.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, social work, education, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in ABA, behavioral health, child welfare, developmental disabilities, education, family services, healthcare outreach, or community engagement strongly preferred.
- Registered Behavior Technician experience is helpful but not required.
- Existing relationships within Essex County schools, pediatric practices, family organizations, or social-service networks are highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, presentation, and follow-up skills.
- Comfortable initiating conversations and developing new professional relationships.
- Ability to explain services clearly to families and community professionals.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and use a CRM or similar tracking system.
- Professional judgment when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with clinical, admissions, and marketing teams.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally.
Schedule and Travel
This is a part-time position averaging approximately 15–20 hours per week. The schedule will be flexible and may include daytime community outreach, clinic-based work, and occasional evening or weekend events.
Regular physical presence at the East Orange clinic and throughout Essex County is required.
This is not a remote position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with pediatricians, therapists, schools, childcare centers, family-support organizations, early childhood programs, community organizations, and other potential referral sources.
- Increase awareness of Heart to Heart’s ABA clinic and the populations, services, and insurance plans it serves.
- Conduct in-person outreach throughout East Orange and the surrounding Essex County community.
- Schedule and conduct clinic tours for families, professionals, and referral partners.
- Attend community fairs, conferences, parent events, school events, health fairs, and other outreach opportunities.
- Coordinate open houses, educational sessions, and community presentations related to ABA services.
- Provide clear and accurate information about program eligibility, the referral process, clinic services, and next steps.
- Obtain initial referral information and facilitate a timely, organized handoff to the intake or clinical team.
- Follow up with referral sources and interested families within established timelines.
- Develop ongoing relationships with organizations that serve children with autism, developmental delays, behavioral needs, or related diagnoses.
- Maintain accurate documentation of outreach activities, relationships, referrals, and follow-up actions in the company’s CRM.
- Track the source and status of referrals generated through community outreach.
- Gather feedback from families and community partners regarding service needs, barriers, and perceptions of Heart to Heart.
- Work closely with marketing and ABA leadership to ensure outreach materials and messages are accurate and effective.
- Maintain current knowledge of available program capacity, accepted insurance plans, age ranges, hours, and referral requirements.
- Represent Heart to Heart professionally and consistently at all community activities.
- Perform other outreach and relationship-development responsibilities as assigned.
Performance Expectations
Success in this position will be measured through a combination of relationship-building activity and referral outcomes, including:
- Meaningful meetings with potential referral partners
- New referral-source relationships established
- Community events and presentations attended or coordinated
- Qualified referrals generated through non-digital sources
- Clinic tours and family introductions completed
- Timeliness of referral follow-up
- Percentage of outreach activities accurately documented in the CRM
- Repeat referrals from established community partners
- Progression of referred families into intake and assessment
