Position Overview
A1 Mechanical is seeking a skilled and motivated HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing residential HVAC systems while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
The ideal candidate is technically proficient, customer-focused, dependable, and capable of independently troubleshooting a wide range of heating, cooling, ventilation, and indoor air quality systems. Key Responsibilities1. Diagnostics, Repairs & Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair residential heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and system tune-ups according to company standards.
- Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, airflow, combustion, and control-related issues.
- Verify proper system operation through performance testing and system measurements.
- Accurately document findings, repairs performed, and recommendations provided to customers.
- Maintain compliance with all manufacturer specifications, company standards, and applicable mechanical codes.
2. Customer Service & Communication
- Serve as the face of the company during customer interactions.
- Clearly explain system conditions, repair options, and recommended solutions in a professional manner.
- Build trust through honesty, technical expertise, and exceptional service.
- Educate homeowners on maintenance practices, system operation, and available comfort solutions.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent the company positively at all times.
3. Safety, Quality & Professional Development
- Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards and customer expectations.
- Maintain an organized company vehicle, tools, and inventory.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development.
- Assist with mentoring apprentices and less experienced technicians when appropriate.
4. Opportunity Identification
- Identify opportunities where repairs, equipment replacement, indoor air quality products, duct modifications, or system upgrades may benefit the customer.
- Present solutions that genuinely improve system performance, comfort, efficiency, reliability, or indoor air quality.
- Collaborate with sales and replacement teams when larger projects are needed.
Qualifications & RequirementsTechnical Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of residential HVAC service experience preferred.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Working knowledge of refrigeration cycles, airflow, electrical systems, controls, gas furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, and indoor air quality products.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, installation manuals, and technical documentation.
Licensing & Certifications
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- Kentucky Journeyman HVAC License preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
