Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan’s Heartland is seeking an experienced, adaptable retail manager to provide leadership coverage at stores throughout our territory.
This is not a traditional Store Manager role assigned to one location. You will step into stores during vacancies, vacations, leaves, leadership transitions, and other business needs. We need someone who can quickly assess operations, build trust with the team, maintain standards, and keep the store moving forward.
- Provide temporary leadership and operational coverage at assigned retail stores.

Quickly evaluate staffing, customer service, production, merchandising, safety, and cash-control needs.

Coach employees, manage schedules, address performance concerns, and support day-to-day store operations.

Maintain Goodwill policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Communicate concerns, priorities, and completed work to Retail Leadership.

Assist with store transitions, openings, inventories, training, and special projects.

Work alongside the team when needed, including cashiering, processing, recovery, and customer service.
This is a full-time, salaried position with a flexible retail schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Our stores are open:

Monday–Saturday: 10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.

Sunday: 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

No late-night or early morning store hours

Minimum of five years of retail sales and operations experience.

Minimum of three years of management or supervisory experience.

Strong leadership, coaching, decision-making, and conflict-management skills.

Ability to adapt quickly and establish credibility with different teams.

Experience with scheduling, merchandising, cash controls, customer service, and employee performance management.

Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the GICMH territory.
Experience managing multiple locations, providing interim coverage, opening stores, or leading through operational transitions is preferred.
