In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
We are looking for applicants that possess knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:
(1) water resource or environmental science specific to surface water, water quality, fisheries, hydrology, and/or other related environmental resources;
(2) California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licensing process, and/or other state and federal environmental regulations;
(3) project management and ability to effectively and timely address multiple high priority tasks;
(4) experience working with stakeholders including processes and collaboration with diverse team environments towards resolving complex issues;
(5) excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills;
(6) the ability to work independently and in group settings on complex environmental resource issues.
Water Board employees may be eligible for benefits. Health benefits and leave programs are available for most permanent, full-time employees, and some permanent, part-time employees. A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more than 2 pages in length, using Arial, 12pt font, and normal margins.
The Statement of Qualification (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. The SOQ is required for consideration for this position and applicants who fail to submit a SOQ will be eliminated from consideration. The SOQ is a summary of your experience, education, and training as related to the questions outlined below. The following statements should be typed in the SOQ followed by your response:
(1) Describe your knowledge and/or experience with environmental resource management specific to water quality, fisheries, habitat restoration, hydrology, or other related fields.
(2) Describe your knowledge and/or experience with the California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licensing process, and/or other state and federal environmental regulations.
(3) Describe your training and/or experience in stakeholder processes.
(4) Describe your training and/or experience in project management.
