ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a key role in supporting the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the cafe. This position involves managing staff, ensuring high-quality service, and maintaining operational standards. The AGM ensures that the cafe operates smoothly, meeting both customer satisfaction and operational objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Leadership and Team Development
- Hire, train, and develop cafe staff to maintain high levels of service and operational efficiency.
- Organize and oversee staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours while controlling labor costs.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations to foster staff growth and accountability.
- Handle disciplinary actions and terminations in accordance with company policy, ensuring a fair and consistent approach.
- Lead by example, embodying the cafe’s core values and setting a positive tone for the entire team.
- Mentor and develop staff, identifying potential leaders within the team and providing opportunities for advancement.
- Support the General Manager in implementing strategic initiatives, contributing to the overall success and growth of the cafe.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee food preparation and ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by monitoring all aspects of the cafe’s operations, including food quality, service standards, and ambiance.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a diplomatic, courteous, and timely manner, striving to exceed guest expectations.
- Ensure compliance with alcoholic beverage regulations, including proper service, storage, and sales.
Inventory and Cost Management
- Estimate food and beverage costs, helping to maximize profitability without compromising quality.
- Manage inventory levels, ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchase of food, beverages, and supplies.
- Conduct regular inspections of the restaurant and equipment, scheduling repairs and maintenance as necessary to prevent operational disruptions.
Financial and Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate sales records, track cash receipts, and ensure financial integrity through diligent cash handling and reporting.
- Prepare and submit operational reports and other required documentation to the General Manager and Territory Manager, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in monitoring and managing the cafe’s financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability targets.
- Perform additional duties and support functions as assigned by the General Manager.
Community Engagement and Brand Representation
- Assist in local marketing efforts, building relationships with the community to enhance brand awareness and drive customer traffic.
- Represent the cafe in a positive light, ensuring that all interactions with customers, vendors, and the community align with the brand’s values and standards.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, P.O.S. systems, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), and other relevant software.
- Familiarity with food handling, safety, and restaurant guidelines, with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in hospitality management or business administration is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of restaurant management or ownership experience required.
- Certification in food safety and sanitation, such as ServSafe, required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to quickly traverse all areas of the cafe.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
Pay: $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
