Position: Armed School Security Officer
Location: Leon County, FL — assigned to two charter school campuses
Type: Full-time/Part-time
Who We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Candidates who have completed Guardian Program training and certification through a Florida sheriff's office under the Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program framework are strongly preferred. OR
2. Current or former sworn law-enforcement officers- including reserve deputy sheriffs or similarly qualified personnel are encouraged to apply.
3. Must be legally eligible under Florida law to serve in an armed school security role, including satisfaction of all applicable background, licensing, training, and district requirements.
4. Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Florida Class "G" Statewide Firearms License (or equivalent armed security license required for the assignment).
5. Current and documented firearms proficiency qualification as required by applicable Florida law and district policy.
6. Valid Florida driver's license
7. Ability to pass a thorough criminal background check, including FBI/FDLE screening, consistent with Florida school-safety requirements.
8. First aid, CPR, and Stop the Bleed training.
9. Strong threat-identification and de-escalation skills
10. Experience with physical security measures (surveillance, access control, alarms)

Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain a visible, active security presence on assigned school campuses
· Monitor and control access points; conduct perimeter and interior security checks
· Support school administrators during incidents, emergencies, and day-to-day security operations
· Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, threats, and campus disruptions
· Report and document suspicious activity, security concerns, and incidents in accordance with post orders and district policy
· Coordinate with law enforcement, school leadership, and PRÆLIO leadership during incidents and after-action reviews
· Apply de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts and reduce the need for force
· Maintain firearm proficiency and adhere strictly to use-of-force policy, applicable law, and school procedures
· Participate in drills, training, and ongoing professional development as directed
Florida School-Security Compliance:
This position is intended to support compliance with Florida's school-security requirements, including the Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program / Guardian Program framework. Final eligibility for armed assignment is subject to verification of certification, training, licensure, and background check results, and is contingent upon approval by the applicable school district. Candidates will not be assigned to armed duties until all applicable state and district requirements have been confirmed in writing.

May involve occasional evening and weekend work for special events or emergency response
Assignment to specific campuses is subject to district approval and operational need
