Medical Assistant – Job Description
We are seeking a professional, organized, and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our healthcare providers and deliver excellent patient care. This position combines clinical assistance, administrative responsibilities, telephone communication, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Answer telephone calls, respond to messages, and assist patients with general questions.
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments.
- Check patients in and out and verify demographic and insurance information.
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms before each appointment.
- Record vital signs, medical history, allergies, and current medications.
- Assist the medical provider during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare supplies and maintain clean, organized treatment areas.
- Sterilize instruments and follow infection-control and safety procedures.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Provide patients with provider-approved pre- and post-treatment instructions.
- Process payments, provide receipts, and explain clinic policies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Monitor medical supplies and notify management when items need to be ordered.
- Perform additional clinical or administrative duties as assigned and permitted by law.
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification or relevant medical-office experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Excellent telephone, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Organized, dependable, punctual, and attentive to detail.
- Comfortable using computers, electronic medical records, and scheduling systems.
- Able to protect confidential patient information.
- Must perform clinical duties only within their training and legally permitted scope of practice.
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
