Program Summary:
The purpose of the FMCSD After School Program is to provide services and activities that help students improve in academics, attendance, behavior, promotion rates and graduation rates.
Primary Responsibility:
The student support specialist, under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, supports a group of students throughout the afterschool program to ensure that they are ready to learn and be successful.
General Responsibilities:

Maintain effective communication with the Site Coordinator and/or school personnel at the assigned site.

Follow direction of Site Coordinator or other manager(s) with respect to policies and procedures, and adhere to program requirements.

Lead restorative practices with assigned groups of students, participate in and take responsibility for afterschool program activities at assigned sites.

Provide input to academic and enrichment specialists to aid in out-of-school time program planning and design.

Meet with parents, students and community members; communicate in a respectful and confidential manner.

Identify needed supplies and resources, and inform Site Coordinator.

Participate in professional development and program-related training activities.

Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences

Willingness to work positively with and mentor youth

Pass required criminal background checks

Ability to perform all tasks identified in this job description

Valid driver's license

Good physical condition with ability to lift 10 pounds
Preferred Competences:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in a school- or community-based out-of-school time organization

Knowledge of afterschool programs, communities and/or positive youth development

CPR and First Aid Certifications

Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Physical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, be able to lift at least 10 lbs.
