Position Summary
The Welder/Shop Mechanic is responsible for performing structural welding, fabrication, and repair work on lift trucks, equipment, attachments, and related components. This position requires a candidate who can successfully pass the company's welding test and perform light mechanical repairs and maintenance between welding projects. The ideal candidate will have strong welding skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in a shop environment.

Perform MIG, stick, and/or flux-core welding on equipment, attachments, and structural components.

Fabricate, modify, and repair metal components according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

Successfully complete and maintain welding qualifications, including passing the AWSD14 Welding Test.

Inspect damaged equipment and determine repair requirements.

Perform light mechanical repairs and maintenance on lift trucks and related equipment, including hydraulic, fuel, cooling, electrical, and exhaust systems.

Assist with preventative maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and performance.

Operate equipment to troubleshoot issues and verify repairs.

Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, schematics, and technical manuals.

Maintain accurate records of welding repairs, maintenance activities, and inspections.

Support parts and warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving, as needed.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Assist the Service Manager and other shop personnel as required.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to pass the company's AWSD14 Welding Test as a condition of employment.

Proficient in structural welding and metal fabrication.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical documents.

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform light equipment repairs and maintenance.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Vocational training, technical education, or equivalent experience in welding, fabrication, mechanics, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of welding and fabrication experience required.

Experience performing maintenance and repair on industrial equipment, forklifts, diesel equipment, hydraulics, or similar machinery preferred.

Relevant welding certifications are a plus.
