CMA - Assisted Living 3rd Shift
Location: Mulvane, KS 67110
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) administers medications to residents according to physician orders, ensuring safe and accurate delivery while considering each resident’s individual needs, diagnosis, and current condition. The CMA’s top priority is resident safety in all aspects of care.
- Receive pertinent resident information from the Nurse regarding condition and care needs.
- Administer oral, topical, and drop medications; perform simple procedures or treatments under nurse supervision.
- Maintain accurate records reflecting resident condition, medications, and treatments.
- Assess residents before administering medications; use professional judgment and collaborate with the Nurse Manager if deviations from the treatment plan are needed.
- Report abnormalities promptly.
- Administer medications following the “Five Rights”: Right Resident, Right Medication, Right Dosage, Right Route, Right Time.
- Ensure residents take medications as prescribed.
- Count all controlled medications at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Ensure medication availability by ordering with Nurse Manager approval.
- Monitor expiration dates on medications and treatment supplies; report concerns to the Nurse Manager.
- Maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in resident care as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment; follow infection control standards and clean/stock medication cart at shift end.
- Monitor CNAs and hallways; complete compliance rounds at the end of the shift.
- Perform CNA duties when required by the Nurse or Director of Nursing, understanding all CNA responsibilities.
- Observe resident rights, including privacy, dignity, and respectful communication.
- Work collaboratively as a team member; communicate concerns through the chain of command.
- Provide recommendations to management for improving facility services.
- Manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently without unauthorized overtime.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Respect resident dignity and privacy; knock before entering rooms.
- Explain presence and purpose of care activities.
- Remain friendly and professional while performing duties efficiently.
- Certification as a Medication Aide.
- Proficiency in medical administrative support and patient care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology.
- Experience with EHR systems and vital signs monitoring.
- Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care settings.
- Understanding of residents' rights and patient care principles.
- Experience in urgent care or dermatology preferred.
