Duties
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate patients' functional abilities and needs
- Develop individualized treatment plans that align with patient goals and clinical best practices
- Implement targeted occupational therapy programs to improve motor skills, cognitive function, and daily living activities
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, and self-care tasks
- Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with case management teams to ensure smooth transitions of care
- Document patient progress accurately using electronic health records (EHR) and maintain detailed clinical documentation
- Support patients with neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and disabilities through specialized interventions
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with speech therapists, physical therapists, educators, and medical staff to optimize patient outcomes
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques and adaptive strategies
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with evidence-based practices in occupational therapy
Requirements
- Valid license or certification as an Occupational Therapist in the relevant jurisdiction
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or pediatric populations
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical assessment tools used in occupational therapy
- Experience working across various settings such as inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health, or schools
- Skilled in developing care plans and treatment strategies tailored to diverse patient needs
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) management and medical documentation standards
- Excellent client communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team
- Ability to adapt interventions for clients with autism spectrum disorders or other complex conditions
- Knowledge of early intervention practices and experience working with students with special education needs is highly desirable
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning in the field of occupational therapy
