Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Field Crew Lead for Steel Construction to oversee and coordinate on-site activities related to steel fabrication and erection projects. This role is vital in ensuring that construction operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive construction site experience, and a comprehensive understanding of steel structures, schematics, and construction management software. As a Field Crew Lead, you will motivate your team, manage project schedules, and ensure adherence to safety protocols to deliver successful project outcomes.
Duties
- Lead and supervise steel construction crews on-site, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications
- Coordinate daily activities with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to align work schedules and resource allocation
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide installation processes accurately
- Utilize construction management software such as ProCore, Primavera P6, and HeavyBid for scheduling, budgeting, and progress tracking
- Conduct quality control inspections using tools like ohmmeters and ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards
- Oversee the use of construction management tools like Bluebeam for document review and project communication
- Manage project documentation including contracts, change orders, safety reports, and site logs
- Supervise the proper use of construction site equipment and ensure all team members follow safety protocols at all times
- Monitor project progress against schedule milestones; adjust plans as necessary to meet deadlines
- Facilitate communication between field teams and office staff to resolve issues promptly
Qualifications
- Proven experience in heavy steel construction or similar large-scale projects with supervisory responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of construction management software including ProCore, Primavera P6, Primavera P6, HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other relevant tools
- Skilled in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction estimating techniques
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety procedures specific to steel erection sites
- Demonstrated ability in project scheduling, budgeting, and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Supervising experience with a focus on quality control and adherence to project specifications
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage conflicts effectively
- Construction site experience involving pipeline projects or heavy infrastructure is highly desirable
- Technical proficiency with tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing and management of construction site equipment
