NJ is one of OnCourse's strongest K-12 markets, with an established customer base, active opportunities, and a differentiated platform aligned to critical NJDOE requirements. As OnCourse has expanded into new segments, we’ve identified targeted opportunity in North Jersey that our current sales team lacks the bandwidth to pursue. We're adding a dedicated account executive to own it.
In this role you take on a proven territory with room to grow, and you own that growth, from expanding current accounts to winning new districts.
About OnCourse
For twenty years, OnCourse Systems for Education has built the software that helps K-12 districts run. Our platform pairs a full Student Information System (SIS) with an integrated suite spanning educator evaluation, MTSS, analytics, assessment, special education, lesson planning, and curriculum, so a district can manage the full student journey in one connected system. We work in close partnership with the administrators and educators who use our tools, and that relationship sits at the center of how we operate.
What you'll do
- For enterprise SIS sales, own North Jersey and manage the full sales cycle, from first contact through signed contract.
- Grow revenue within the existing customer base while bringing new districts onto the platform.
- Sell to district leadership through a consultative, multi-stakeholder process, and hold the executive-sponsor relationship at each account.
- Represent OnCourse at district meetings and regional events; work with marketing to choose your preferred sponsorships and events.
- Own standalone product sales in the Northeast expansion territory; Northern PA, NY, and New England, for modules like OnCourse Evaluate, Discipline Tracker, MTSS, etc.
The support and access behind you
OnCourse is well established in the New Jersey district community, and this role comes with the backing to reach decision-makers:
- Sponsorship for key organizations and conferences, e.g. NJASA, NJASTO, NJSBA, etc.
- Focused product alignment to NJDOE reporting, offering sharp value contrast with national SIS products.
- Budget to sponsor county superintendent meetings, putting you in the room with the people who can initiate change.
- Twice-yearly North Jersey user groups that keep you connected to your installed base and visible to nearby prospects, plus a dedicated budget for district meetings and relationship-building.
- 200 OnCourse districts across the state, many of whom will take a peer call from a neighboring superintendent, so you carry credibility into your first conversations.
- Strong sales enablement support to help with discovery, sales materials, RFPs, etc.
You'll also have a team invested in your territory: Customer Success Managers whose compensation is tied to the health of your accounts, product specialists who join deals when a district needs deeper technical or state-reporting expertise, and sales enablement support throughout the cycle.
What we're looking for
- A track record selling to schools or districts, in ed-tech or B2B software; or strong existing relationships with New Jersey district leadership.
- Track record of achieving quota
- Comfort with long, committee-driven buying cycles, and the discipline to work them patiently.
- A self-directed operator who takes full ownership of a territory and builds it methodically.
- Clear, credible communication with senior decision-makers in education.
Compensation
- Base salary of $95,000 plus uncapped commission, with target earnings of $150,000 to $170,000 and no ceiling on strong performance.
- Substantial guaranteed income floor through your ramp period, so you're protected while you build the territory.
