Job Overview
We are looking for hosts for Faraway Place, a new concept in downtown Wausau that offers a curated selection of unique smash burgers and other options with ingredients from local farms and bakeries. Our desire is to provide Wausau a relaxed meeting ground with regular live music, karaoke, trivia, and out of the box events that span a range of tastes/interests.
In turn, our hosts need to be lively and entertaining. While often times interactions at the counter tend to be brief, they are the front facing aspect of our food program and are ambassadors of the concept in general. Being able to maintain a friendly demeanor and a level of care for the restaurant is a must. We are here to serve the community and hold a space for people (staff included) to fully feel like themselves; pretension or judgement are antithetical to that purpose.
Duties
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems to efficiently process customer purchases
- Handle cash, credit cards, and mobile payments with accuracy
- Assist customers with questions and make recommendations while minding the customers taste
- Conduct basic math calculations for transactions and provide correct change confidently
- Provide a warm, welcoming greeting to all customers
- Stock beverage cooler regularly
- Prepare/portion condiments
- Provide assistance to all other positions in the restaurant when time permits
- Clear and clean tables when guests leave
- Maintain organization of stocked beverages and your station in general
Skills
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Pay: $12.00 - $20.00 per hour
