Duties
- Safely operate box trucks with refrigerated trailers along over-the-road routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Plan and follow efficient GPS navigation routes to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel usage and time management
- Load, secure, transport, and unload freight, including hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods, following hazardous materials regulations
- Handle logistics cargo handling tasks such as truck loading/unloading, forklift operation, and securing freight on flatbed or tanker trailers when necessary
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure compliance with safety standards and vehicle maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery times and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers or box trucks used for freight delivery
- Prior delivery driver experience with route driving across long distances on over-the-road (OTR) routes
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailer operation and logistics cargo handling techniques
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and hazardous materials regulations
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual handling tasks safely
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking
- Certification or experience in forklift operation or other heavy equipment such as dump trucks or roll-off trucks is a plus
