Position Summary:
The Mill Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining asphalt milling equipment to remove existing pavement surfaces in preparation for paving operations. This position works closely with foremen, truck drivers, and paving crews to ensure milling is completed accurately, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate asphalt milling machines safely and efficiently.
- Maintain proper milling depth, grade, and slope as specified.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
- Coordinate with truck drivers to ensure continuous material removal.
- Monitor machine performance and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow project plans, grade controls, and supervisor instructions.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Assist with other paving and site preparation activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating asphalt milling equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and understand project plans and grade requirements.
- Knowledge of asphalt paving and roadway construction practices.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, and travel as required.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and working long shifts during peak construction season.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
