We are seeking a reliable, hardworking General Helper to join our team in Houston. This position is responsible for executing various operational support, cleaning, and manual packaging activities across different areas of our manufacturing plant. You will follow established procedures and safety regulations to ensure the continuous, efficient, and smooth flow of our production processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Sanitation & Housekeeping: Clean designated production areas, hallways, line structures, and physical machine housings to support 5S standards.
● Material Allocation: Organize, stage, and arrange scrap materials, polyethylene rolls, protective liner wrap, and industrial pallets within logistics cells.
● Scrap Weight Logging: Accurately measure and log weights from scrap carts, core waste ("galleta"), outer liner components, and raw paper materials.
● Parent Roll Preparation: Remove plastic wrap and excess material from large paper parent rolls and web substrates to facilitate efficient automatic and manual splicing cycles.
● Mandrel Assembly Support: Help technical teams mount and dismount expansion shafts, roll sleeves, and mechanical core mandrels on line feeds.
● Parent Roll Swapping: Provide physical operational assistance during machine paper roll modifications and continuous line changeovers. Note: Machine changeovers and entry into guarded machine areas occur only after the Production Supervisor has shut the equipment down, implemented Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and authorized the employee to proceed.
● Line Startup Support: Assist operators with initial machinery setups, equipment startups, and the early phase running of production lines.
● Basic Blockage Mitigation: Learn basic line resetting steps to safely clear simple paper jams and lift blockages. Note: Jam clearing and entry into guarded machine areas occur only after the Production Supervisor has shut the equipment down, implemented Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and authorized the employee to proceed.
Operational Sourcing Familiarity: Demonstrate consistent availability and a proactive attitude to learn automated machine interfaces and processing dynamics.
Qualifications & Requirements
● Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
● Experience: Beginner-level experience in a production, manufacturing, or industrial warehouse environment is preferred.
● Language: Basic communication skills in English and Spanish.
● Skills: Basic understanding of production procedures and material flow within a plant; strong attention to detail and excellent teamwork.
● Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
● Stamina: Ability to stand and walk constantly for prolonged periods of time, up to 12 hours per shift.
● Mobility: Physical capacity to bend, twist, crouch, and climb occasionally.
● Lifting: Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing between 0 to 50 lbs.
● Environment: Regular exposure to industrial noise, dust, variations in temperature, elevated areas, greasy zones, and confined spaces.
● Required PPE: Constant and mandatory use of steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, hairnets, hard hats, and anti-cut gloves (provided by the company).
Pay: $14.50 per hour
