Florida Design Drilling LLC (FDD) is a rapidly growing, licensed water well and general contractor based in West Palm Beach, Florida. We are a leading provider of water well drilling and water resource construction services, specializing in solutions for industrial, irrigation, and commercial clients.
We operate a well-established shop in West Palm Beach that provides critical maintenance and repair services for our fleet of drilling rigs, heavy equipment, and support vehicles. We are looking for a skilled Diesel Technician / Fleet Technician (Yard Maintenance/Fleet Mechanic) to join our team and help keep our operations running safely and efficiently.
Position Summary
The Diesel Technician / Fleet Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of diesel-powered drilling equipment, heavy machinery, and vehicles. This role will work both in our shop and in the field, supporting our crews and ensuring minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on:
- Drilling rigs
- Heavy equipment
- Trucks and trailers
- Motors, transmissions, brakes
- 480v and 600v Gensets
- Other fleet vehicles and support equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in the shop and at job sites.
- Experience with instrumentation & controls, PLCs, etc., preferred.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all equipment.
- Accurately document work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance.
- Assist with field service calls, including emergency repairs, as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the yard and shop.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other team members regarding equipment status and repair needs.
Job Requirements
-Proven experience as a Diesel Technician / Fleet Mechanic working with diesel-powered equipment.
-Strong knowledge of:
- Mechanical systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Electrical systems
- Diesel engines
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing a variety of equipment and vehicle issues.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation to commute to the shop and travel to job sites.
- Flexible and willing to work extended or irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support 24/7 drill rig operations.
- Committed to getting the repairs done efficiently to meet stringent fleet schedules.
- Willingness to travel to field locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- ASE Certification
- Medium / Heavy Truck (T-Series)
- CDL

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
