Geotechnical Operations Manager | Field & Site Investigations

A leading geotechnical site investigation contractor is seeking a Geotechnical Operations Manager to lead regional field drilling and exploration programs. This role is ideal for professionals with a geology, geotechnical, or field engineering background who thrive in hands-on field operations, team leadership, and project execution.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Field & Project Operations
- Lead and support geotechnical drilling and site investigation projects across multiple locations
- Supervise and coordinate field crews, drillers, and field engineers/geologists
- Develop and support exploration plans, proposals, and project scopes
- Ensure data quality, field accuracy, and adherence to geotechnical standards
- Oversee project schedules, logistics, and resource allocation (crews + equipment)
- Participate in client meetings, project kickoffs, and technical discussions
Leadership & Performance
- Drive a strong safety-first culture across all field operations
- Mentor and develop field staff and junior technical professionals
- Improve operational efficiency and project delivery performance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and maintain strong relationships
Equipment & Field Execution
- Oversee drilling operations and heavy equipment utilization
- Coordinate mobilization of rigs and field equipment across projects
- Ensure proper maintenance, compliance, and utilization of assets
What We’re Looking For
- Background in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field experience
- Experience supporting or managing site investigations, drilling, or field exploration
- Strong understanding of field operations, safety, and project execution
- Leadership experience managing crews or technical field teams
- Willingness to travel and work in field-based environments
Preferred:
- 3+ years of geotechnical, geology, or field engineering experience
- CDL (Class A or B) is a plus

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
