Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our dynamic dealership team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking vehicle maintenance and repair services. This role requires excellent communication skills, automotive knowledge, and the ability to manage service writing and auto estimating processes efficiently. The Service Advisor will ensure a seamless customer experience while coordinating with technicians to deliver quality automotive repairs and maintenance.
Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, understanding their vehicle service needs
- Explain repair and maintenance services clearly, providing accurate estimates and recommendations
- Write detailed service orders and manage service documentation accurately
- Upsell additional services or repairs that benefit the customer’s vehicle safety and performance
- Coordinate with technicians regarding diagnostics, repairs, and estimated completion times
- Manage customer inquiries, follow-up on vehicle status, and ensure satisfaction throughout the service process
- Handle cash transactions and process payments efficiently
- Maintain knowledge of current automotive repair techniques including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, air brake systems, alignment, auto body repair, and other automotive diagnostics
- Stay updated on dealership promotions, warranty policies, and manufacturer specifications to provide accurate information to customers
Experience
- Prior dealership experience is highly preferred
- Experience in auto service management or service writing is advantageous
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures such as oil changes, brake repairs, tire services, and transmission work is essential
- Background in mechanic work or service technician roles is beneficial for understanding technical aspects of repairs
- Proven ability in upselling services while maintaining excellent customer service skills
- Experience with auto estimating software and automobile sales processes is a plus
- Strong communication skills combined with mechanical knowledge are necessary to succeed in this role
