We have opened a Day Program for Individuals with severe and profound Developmental Disabilities in Forest Park. We are looking for caring and dedicated DSP's to assist during the days, Monday - Friday 8a-4p. MUST be a licensed driver with a clean driving record, less than 6 points.

Direct Support Professional Job Description
Direct support professionals (DSPs) are people who work directly with Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities with the aim of assisting them to be as independent as possible. A DSP at Leaps and Bounds is a hero responsible to provide direct services and support to the individual, including, but not limited to: daily hygiene and care, supervising, teaching, and assisting the individual in every aspect of their work life, with the goals of fostering increased independence, choice and empowerment. Our individuals require a great deal of support and love throughout the day. A DSP is also an advocate, helping people in communicating needs, self-expression, and goals as well as assuring justice and equality in community life.
Direct Support Professional Specific Job Duties
· Respect individual rights and confidentiality. Be a role model, promote positive teamwork and assist w/staff development/training as assigned.
· Read, know, and implement all individual services and supports as well as organizational policies and procedures.
· Report all pertinent medical information to nurses and follow nurses’ directions.
· Remain alert to individuals’ behavior/physical changes and notify immediate supervisor.
· Assist with and work to strengthen the individuals’ many daily living needs, including nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication, and socialization skills
