POSITION SUMMARY
The Print Production Lead is a member of the company's Media Services Department and is responsible for printing, finishing, and installing visual concepts. The print production team prepares print jobs, runs and maintains printers and other shop equipment, and binds/finishesgoods. Successful candidates will be prepared to project manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying levels of complexity inside an extremely busy, high-output department, to ensure that creative output is developed and delivered on schedule and under budget and with attention to detail, not only meeting our clients’ expectations, but exceeding them.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Works with fellow print production team members and designers to project manage and schedule all incoming jobs/print goods
- Maintains organization, cleanliness and appearance of print shop on daily basis
- Reviews job orders to determine quantities to be printed, material specifications, colors, special instructions, and overall scope of work
- Arranges materials for printing
- Operates, maintains and calibrates all printing equipment
- Monitors and controls inventory supply levels, completing restock orders as needed
- Collects and inspects samples during print runs to identify any needed maintenance or adjustments
- Cuts materials to specified dimensions, fits, glues, staples, using hands or machinery
- Binds/finishes using hand tools, knives, hammers, grommets or other such tools
- Installs or otherwise applies print jobs to various substrates, including large format applications that require use of ladders, scaffold, lifts
- Manages the digital proofing process, the accurate transfer of files, and color blends to ensure client satisfaction
- Other duties as required for projects
- Has a working knowledge and understanding of basic photography skills and will photograph events as needed/assigned, editing and posting content upon completion of shoot.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Communication. Must confer with clients and colleagues about the details of a printing order, often under immense deadline pressure.
- Problem Solving. Individual must have high aptitude for problem solving skills, especially in high-stress situations
- Technologically adept. The printing process is computer-based, requiring the Print Production Lead to have basic computer skills. He/she must also be familiar with publishing software and some basic Adobe suite knowledge
- Organization. Must be a highly organized individual, capable of managing and maintaining schedules, product and tool organization
- Detail-oriented. Must pay close attention to detail in order to identify and resolve problems with any print jobs or applications.
- Mathematically adept. Basic math required to calculate percentages, weights, and measures and in order to determine amount of ink and paper required to do a job along with other material requirements.
- Mechanically inclined. The Print Production Lead must be comfortable with printing equipment and be prepared to make adjustments if a printing error occurs. Mechanical aptitude is particularly important for binding, finishing and install work, as the employee must be comfortable using machinery and hand tools.
- Flexible Schedule. Must be available to work M-F from 8:30-5:30 with availability for some nights and weekends as projects require.
- Must have drivers license and reliable transportation.
