About the Role
ShareSTAFF is seeking a Board-Certified Anatomic Pathology Physician for a locum tenens assignment at a leading academic health system in Louisville, Kentucky. This role supports an established AP program during a permanent-physician search, providing continuity for surgical, oncologic, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
The schedule is structured and predictable: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no call. The successful candidate joins an established academic AP laboratory handling a high-volume caseload of approximately 150 to 200 slides per day and 20 to 30 cases per day, supported by a fully credentialed team of pathology assistants, histotechnicians, and laboratory staff. Cytopathology participation is flexible - you can opt in or out based on your subspecialty comfort. Autopsies are optional and generally reserved for longer-term placements. Frozen section coverage is not required at the outset and may be considered in the future for the right candidate.
The academic environment brings exposure to a diverse case mix consistent with a university medical center or cancer institute setting. Coverage spans both campuses of the health system as clinical scheduling requires. Interview is typically a single video session with faculty; no on-site visits required.
